There are some things that can only be done behind closed doors.
Jesus teaches us to close the door when we pray. Matthew 6: 6 “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

I believe something significant happens when we pray behind closed doors. It’s good to come together in prayer and fellowship but something deeper more intimate will take place when it’s just you and God in the room. When we pray together we pray prayers that we don’t mind if others to hear but when we close that door it’s a different kind of prayer. It’s a heart’s cry kind of prayer, a desperate prayer for help. We cry and plead with the Lord to help us with the issues that we cannot tell others about.

When you close the door you close out distractions, your gaze is fixed on him. In that initiate moment heaven touches earth and you are in between. You are able to see angels ascending and descending. You are now able to hear the voice of the Lord. You are able to bare your soul to the Lord, your creator.

Closing the door sometimes means you must make a purposeful choice to set a side time to spend with the Lord in prayer. Not as an after thought but to schedule a meeting with God. Close your phone door. Closed the TV door, closed the front door (no visitors). Close out all distractions and get into a quiet place where you can commune with the Lord.

Get ready for angelic visitation, get into your room and begin to worship, begin to say “Thank you Jesus for giving me life, thank you for setting me free, thank you for your presence, thank you for your love and mercy, thank you for everything.

Begin to praise him for the breakthrough that you are expecting, worship him because he is the God of the universe above him there is no other, he is almighty, the one and only omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent God. Worship him because he is your Alpha and Omega (beginning and the end). Be purposeful in your worship. Spend some time to stand in awe of who he is. He is more than worthy of your praise. When you spend time gazing on the beauty of His Holiness you will see that your cares diminishes because of the greatness of your God.

Then you can make your request for what you need, sometimes this part is not even necessary because when you are a true worshipper and you are in the manifest presence of God. He just supply your needs you just know it’s done and you didn’t even ask. Then there are times when you must ask in order to receive. I believe those time when you are in His presence and feel the need to still ask is because He is inviting you to lay down the burden. We have a tendency to hold on to our burdens even in the presence of God. We can be in room full of people praising God but our minds are focused on the problems we are going through. We just cannot breakthrough to that jubilant place in our minds so that we can truly basked in the presence of the Lord. When this happens the best thing to do is ask the Lord to help you with the burden, give him the burdens, say Lord I come to you with this burden in my heart, I want to enjoy your presence but this thing is hindering me. Lord help me trust you completely and to cast my cares upon you and know that you are working to fix them. This kind of asking is really for your mind to know that you have let go of the thing, God already know what you need and He is going to provide it but when you ask your mind now becomes free because you trust that God heard your prayers and you wait to receive the answers. Then you can make the conscious decision and start worshiping, your problem has not been solved yet but you laid it down at the feet of Jesus and now you are free to worship.

When you closed those doors and enter into the secret place of the Almighty you will find refugee and Strength. Close that door.
